Omar McGee

Founder, The Fairway Foundation

Omar McGee grew up in Flint, Michigan—a city that has long ranked among the most challenging places to live in America. During the height of the crack epidemic in the 1980s, Omar, the youngest of eight children, was exposed early to the harsh realities of divorce, drugs, violence, and alcoholism—conditions that affected not only his family, but the community at large.

Determined to rise above his circumstances, Omar went on to attend Howard University, where he majored in Communications. While at Howard, he founded a nonprofit organization called Inner-City Outreach, created to provide financial support and educational assistance to low-income and inner-city youth in need of secondary education resources. Through Inner-City Outreach, Omar helped more than 50 students advance along the path toward higher education.

After graduating, Omar went on to achieve substantial success in real estate development. Despite his accomplishments, the pursuit of financial success alone did not fulfill his deeper purpose. Driven by a commitment to service and community impact, he ultimately chose to return to his original mission—empowering students whose backgrounds mirrored his own.

With that vision, Omar founded the Executive Preparatory Academy of Finance, an innovative educational program designed to provide inner-city youth with a strong foundation for success. The academy emphasizes academic excellence alongside financial literacy, equipping students with practical tools often missing from traditional education. To date, Executive Preparatory Academy has helped send more than 500 students to college, creating measurable, life-changing outcomes for underserved families and communities.

Expanding his impact to the earliest stages of education, Omar also co-founded LA City Prep, a first-class early childhood education center located in the heart of South Central Los Angeles. LA City Prep was established to give underprivileged children a fair and meaningful start to their educational journey, offering a high-quality learning environment comparable to those found in the most affluent neighborhoods. By investing in children during their most formative years, LA City Prep helps lay the foundation for long-term academic success and lifelong opportunity.

Inspired by his growing passion for the game of golf and its transformative power, Omar also founded The Fairway Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to introducing underprivileged youth to the game of golf and supporting talented young players who love the sport but lack the financial means to participate competitively. Through mentorship, access, and scholarship support, The Fairway Foundation aims to create opportunities for youth to compete, grow, and pursue futures they may not have otherwise imagined.

Through Inner-City Outreach, Executive Preparatory Academy of Finance, LA City Prep, and The Fairway Foundation, Omar fulfills his lifelong mission of providing underserved youth with access to education, mentorship, exposure, and opportunity. His work prepares young people not only to succeed academically, but to become confident, capable leaders who will strengthen their communities and shape the future.
